Title: DUMBO Rezoning Passed Amid Mixed Reviews

Abstract: New York, NY β€” Though controversy over the Coney Island District rezoning continues to rage, the city council has quietly and nearly unanimously passed the DUMBO Improvement District rezoning plan. Containing about 12 blocks along Jay Street and Bridge Street, two separated areas have been converted to a single mixed-use district with contextual zoning, which allows for both manufacturing and residential buildings β€” and hopefully affordable housing under the Inclusionary Housing program. Council Member David Yassky released the following statement after the approval: β€œThe DUMBO rezoning has been a long time coming and will help create both residential and commercial development so this great neighborhood can fully realize its potential.”
